Connected Applications for Optimal Information Flow

Within our Funkwerk Mobility Platform, two central applications ensure maximum efficiency: the PIS Management System for stop-related information control and the Passenger Information System for dynamic communication along the journey. Together, they enable precise, networked information management, whereby the PIS management system can also be set up individually as a background system – depending on the project scope and customer requirements.

PIS Management System

Digital Heart of the Funkwerk Mobility Platform
The PIS Management System, also known as the background or PIS Light System, bundles data, controls processes, and supplies all output media in real-time – from platform displays to info monitors and announcement systems.

Intelligent Data Integration
The system’s open architecture allows flexible integration of various data sources (e.g., RailML, GTFS, SIRI, GTFS-RT). Timetable and real-time information are reliably merged, verified, and made available for passenger communication with quality assurance.

Event Processing and Schedule Changes
Delays, platform changes, cancellations, or additional stops are automatically detected, logically classified, and distributed across appropriate media. This ensures passengers receive precise, relevant information both visually and acoustically.

Central Control and System Management
Content, systems, and statuses can be conveniently managed via a web-based interface or standardized interfaces. The PIS Management System is multi-client capable, available as a cloud or on-premise option, and can be precisely adapted to your infrastructure.

Passenger Information System

Trip-Related Control Center
The Passenger Information System focuses on the dynamic provision of trip-related information. It builds on the functions of the PIS Management System. It provides passengers along the route with precise, context-dependent content that is always synchronized and up-to-date, visually via displays (LED, TFT, E-Paper) and acoustically via sound systems.

Intelligent Information Logic
The application recognizes operational events, train runs, and transfer connections, responding with automatically generated or manually triggered content. For example, delays, platform changes, or special announcements are communicated in a situationally appropriate and understandable manner – ideal for flexible reactions in train operations.

Central Control and User Guidance
Operators retain control at all times via a role-based, browser-based interface. Information can be specifically displayed, content can be directly adapted if required, and systems can be managed centrally and regardless of location – for maximum transparency and ease of control.
