The system recognizes trains, performs motion analysis with direction determination, and transmits the states in real-time to a central server. This detection occurs locally (“on the edge”) with direct connection via TLS (Transport Layer Security)-secured MQTT protocol. Redundant mechanisms ensure high operational reliability.
The Funkwerk Sensor Module brings new precision to platform information: It enables accurate, infrastructure-based determination of train position without interfering with the existing train control and safety system. An optical sensor specifically developed by us uses artificial intelligence to analyze train movement directly on the platform, from arrival to departure, and delivers the collected data in real-time to the passenger information system. This allows dynamic displays to be controlled precisely and up-to-date.
Additional functions such as passenger counting for targeted capacity planning or automatic standby switching of displays for energy savings create real added value. The result is reliable information for travelers, lower operating costs, and overall more efficient railway operations.
