Architecture

Scalable. Reactive. Robust
The platform is based on an event-driven architecture (EDA). This principle enables asynchronous processing of events under high load and in real-time – with these advantages:
- Scalable: Smooth processing even under high system load
- Responsive: Events are immediately captured and implemented
- Flexible: Individual components are decoupled and interchangeable
- Robust: Partial failures do not affect the overall system
All central system areas are connected via event streams, creating continuous, consistent real-time communication across system boundaries.
Further Development: Open Integration, Modular Expansion
The Funkwerk Mobility Platform can be seamlessly integrated into existing system landscapes – whether for transport associations, municipal utilities, or railway operators. The connected systems serve to monitor means of transport such as buses, trams, or suburban/underground trains. They provide essential data, including schedule information and real-time locations, to central data hubs such as VMT or DEFAS.
Various data standards (e.g., VDV 453/454/736, GTFS-RT, SIRI) are easily integrated. The platform primarily serves as an intelligent data receiver, visualizer, and distributor. This allows targeted integration into existing ecosystems without building redundant system logic.
