Our Approach

Modular. Barrier-free. Future-oriented.
The system for Deutsche Bahn combines automatic passenger information, modern sound technology, and communication functions on an Ethernet basis. The integration of existing control systems and continuous further development ensure the highest operational reliability and scalability.

Central Control for Regional Systems

Funkwerk systems are currently used in Deutsche Bahn’s three regional automatic passenger information control systems:

  • S-Bahn Berlin (BIS)
  • S-Bahn Munich (MARIS)
  • S-Bahn Hamburg (FBR / Stader Branch)

In total, over 3,000 end devices are connected. The software of these systems is continuously maintained and developed during ongoing operations – both for long-distance (FBR) and S-Bahn services. Long-term dedicated service contracts with Deutsche Bahn reliably ensure support.

Large-scale Projects and Nationwide Equipment

As part of numerous large-scale projects, Funkwerk equipped Deutsche Bahn with visual display and information systems – including LCD, TFT, and LED displays. In total, we installed approximately 3,000 of these devices at more than 40 railway stations across Germany.

Another highlight is the installation of over 6,100 dynamic text displays (DAS / DSA+). The devices feature an integrated GSM modem and offer flexible, barrier-free use through an acoustic module added in the second development stage.

Current framework contracts until 2031 ensure the continuous modernization of systems with over 5,000 TFT displays of the ZIM 4 and ZIM 5 generations, as well as comprehensive assembly services with up to 60 projects per year.
