New TFT Displays for Cultural Capital Chemnitz

Reliable and accessible passenger information is a crucial component for modern public transport. Especially at highly frequented hubs like Chemnitz Central Station, passengers must receive all relevant information at a glance.
To improve passenger information at tram stops, we installed and successfully commissioned eight new TFT displays in August on behalf of Chemnitzer Verkehrs AG (CVAG).

The displays were mounted on the existing steel masts on the tram platforms at the main station. All devices are equipped with text-to-speech buttons to provide visually impaired passengers with accessible access to departure information. The displays were seamlessly integrated into the existing passenger information system, ensuring that the devices reliably provide real-time data on tram departures. Thanks to TFT technology, the displays are clearly legible even from a greater distance and contribute to improved orientation for passengers.

Full service from a single source

In Chemnitz, we leveraged our expertise as a system house by implementing all services internally and in the shortest possible time.

Our tasks at a glance:

  • Project planning and project management
  • Implementation of interfaces
  • System integration into the existing passenger information system
  • Production of the TFT displays at our Wackersdorf site (“Made in Germany”)
  • On-site installation and commissioning in Chemnitz

With this holistic implementation, we ensured fast and smooth project execution.

Added value for customers and passengers

The result is a fully functional system that seamlessly integrates into the CVAG network. For passengers, this means:

  • clear and easily legible real-time information,
  • barrier-free use via Text-to-Speech,
  • higher reliability and transparency while waiting for the tram.

Thanks to the comprehensive support from our team, from planning to commissioning, the project reduced additional workload for CVAG.

Conclusion & outlook

With the installation of the new TFT displays at Chemnitz Central Station, we have once again demonstrated that as a full-service provider, we are capable of implementing complex projects independently and efficiently. We are proud to have further improved the quality of information in public transport with this project.
