On April 15, 2026, our colleagues Amish Dalal and Fritz Wolff, together with Niklas Schulz from DB Lightgate (S-Bahn Hamburg GmbH), demonstrated how real-time occupancy monitoring can concretely improve operations in public transport. Initial evaluations of the integration at S-Bahn Munich, S-Bahn Berlin, and S-Bahn Hamburg make it clear: when passengers can see which carriages still have space while on the platform, train dwell times are measurably reduced.
