Pedestrian Guidance
System
Signposting, smart and innovative: The digital pedestrian guidance system combines the classic approach of a signpost with the latest technology from the field of dynamic wayfinding systems on the way to a smart city solution. A pilot project was realised together with the city of Stuttgart.
Digitale column as a 360° information system
The digital column is an autonomous 360° information and guidance system which, with its discreet, filigree design, blends harmoniously into its surroundings but offers the viewer a clear added value. The column is equipped with three arrows that can move through almost 360° and corresponding control software. Dynamic information can be displayed on large LED displays in the arrows, which are easy to read even from a distance.
Dynamic information smartly presented
The aim behind this is to meet the requirements of a contemporary guidance system and to show innovative approaches that go beyond this, as well as to be able to react to future trends and developments with a high degree of flexibility. The Funkwerk guidance system consistently takes into account the idea of inclusion and offers maximum accessibility.
Equipped today for the smart information of tomorrow: The concept of the digital pedestrian guidance system combines the classic approaches of durable construction with energy-saving elements and sophisticated mechanics in a highly modular design. This enables the simple retrofitting of sensors, for example by installing the Funkwerk Sensor Module, and the subsequent implementation of further applications in the system.
The slim, deliberately restrained design puts the focus on 360° information transfer. An individual lighting concept additionally emphasises the column visually.
Three movable digital arrows equipped with a particularly quiet servomotor attract the attention of pedestrians. The arrows have a classic signposting character, where all arrows can point in different directions, up to the display effect of a large-scale visualisation, where they are directly aligned with each other.
High-resolution LED displays installed on both sides provide visual information that is always easy to read, even from a distance of up to 20 metres and in different weather and lighting conditions.
The use of the latest technology – particularly in the fields of sensor technology, sustainable materials and display technology – makes the system an absolutely innovative project for the future.
Trendsetting
Three movable digital arrows equipped with a servomotor attract the attention of pedestrians dynamically changing their position. The display technology consists of high-resolution LEDs.
Robust and durable
The construction is robust against weather influences or vandalism. The modular design allows for easy retrofitting of sensors and the subsequent implementation of further applications.
Sophisticated
All technical elements required for the operation of the system can be accommodated in the central service shafts. All necessary components are concentrated on one side of the system – the other side offers free space for retrofitting, such as sensor modules or a 5G connection.
Experience and expertise
Funkwerk is one of the leading providers of modern information systems in Europe. With more than 25 years of experience in both long-distance and local public transport, the company has access to outstanding expert knowledge and is a strong partner in the field of mobility as a holistic system provider. This means that Funkwerk develops and produces customised displays, columns, acoustic information systems and special products for use in public spaces with the quality feature “Made in Germany”.
